Zelda as patron in the Saraca LR Prize

Tony Parker signed a second black type success on Saturday at Chantilly thanks to Zelda (Zelzal), winner from start to finish of the Prix Saraca (L). The representative of Infinity Nine Horses (Tony Parker), the Castillon Bloodstock team and the Jeffroy team set the record straight after a disappointing sixth and last place at Longchamp in the Prix La Rochette (Gr3), September 5.

Starting from the outermost stall, she was quickly placed in the lead by her jockey, Cristian Demuro. The latter made her breathe in the turn, before soliciting her 400m from the post. Zelda has come easily and finished with a 2-length margin. Third place went a step further to Germany’s Antharis (Sea the Moon), whose outside race finish is also promising.

Immature, certainly… but very good! Zelda now has three wins in four outings. Impressive during her victorious debut on the 1,200m of Saint-Cloud, on July 9, she had confirmed in a Class 2 on the 1,400m of Clairefontaine, on August 4. That day, Zelda was easily ahead of a certain Times Square (Zarak), future second in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr1). Contrary to her habit, Zelda took the lead on Saturday, instead of waiting. His trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget, was replaced at Chantilly by his assistant, Jean-Bernard Roth, who explained to us: “We are completely reassured. It's always easy to talk like that after arriving, but we had already been for a few days. The filly was riding very smoothly and she was in wonderful condition today. We cannot repeat it enough, but these are young horses. They therefore have the right to have a day without. Finally, at Longchamp, Zelda may not have adapted to the so-called "toboggan" course. She is still tender and immature, but she is undoubtedly very good! She also looks like her father. Today, it was wanted to go ahead. When you are dealing with generous horses, you should not go against them. We have done a lot of work on this filly. She is a filly who will mature and gain experience during the winter. "

The first black type from Zelzal. Bred by the Scea des Prairies, the stable of Castillon, Benoît and Thomas Jeffroy, Zelda belongs to the first 2-year-old generation of Zelzal (Sea the Stars), stationed at the Bouquetot stud farm. She is the first black type offspring of the stallion, who has seven individual winners. Zelda's mother, Hortensia (Orpen), has notably two second places at maiden level on the 2,200m de Clairefontaine, in nine outings at 3 years old. Zelda is the mare's fourth offspring and her second winner after the impressive Chez Pierre ** (Mehmas), unbeaten in three outings at 2 years old and 3 years old over the 1,200m de Chantilly, and which was declared exported to the United States. September 29, 2021. Hortensia sadly passed away earlier this year, giving birth to a full brother to Zelda.
