Flatten The Curve's Day of Glory

Flatten the Curve / APRH

Bought in Deauville in the middle of the Covid pandemic, Flatten the Curve (Zarak) has a name that refers to the fight against the virus. It can be translated as “flattening the epidemic curve” in reference to the actions taken to reduce the number of people infected. Four years later, everyone has almost forgotten about Covid but Flatten the Curve, the horse, is making headlines again by winning with great ease in the Silbernes Pferd (Gr3), a race over 3,000m scheduled for Saturday on the soft ground in Cologne. Wedged on the rail that runs alongside the stands, Eckhard Sauren's representative set off again in the straight under the solicitations of Thore Hammer-Hansen… and no one was able to follow his progress. Previously trained in France, this Henk Grewe resident was coming off a victory in 36 valuable in Nantes, over 3,700m. He had never run before in a black type event. Padre Palou (Mastercraftsman), second by just under two lengths, also won his black type at the age of 4. Nastaria (Outstrip), third, had already won a Listed race in August, at Hoppegarten.

Zarak again

Flatten the Curve was bred by SAS IEI (Philip Lybeck), Castillon Stable, Khalifa Mohammed Al Attiyah and Sheikh Faisal Bin Hamad Bin Jassim Al-Thani. Presented by Haras de Castillon in October 2020 at Arqana, he was sold for €24,000 to Eckhard Sauren. He is the 18th Group winner and 41st black type of the Aga Khan Studs stallion Zarak (Dubawi). His dam, Lailoma (Teofilo), won a race at Montier-en-Der at 3. She has given two other winners. The second dam, Ludiana (Dalakhani), finished third in the Prix de Thiberville (L).
