Relaxx Unapproachable

Much whispered about during her first steps in competition in the Prix la Belle II (Inédites), Relaxx (City Light) had finished in third place, very close to the winner. Last time out, the resident of Carlos and Yann Lerner had practiced the waiting race. For his second attempt, Ronan Thomas, who was partnering her for the first time, put his partner in the lead right out of the stalls. In the straight, Relaxx was never worried. She set off again on her own, well supported along the rail and clearly separated herself from her rivals, causing a great impression. At the post, the representative of Stars of Fortune (Anja Wilde), of the JML Racing stable and Fletcher Michelet was three lengths ahead of Vertical Blue (Mehmas), once again second. The unraced Mahasen (Night of Thunder) completed the podium.

Contrary to its name… it is not obvious

Carlos Lerner, co-trainer of Relaxx, told us: "The filly is not easy. Her jockey actually fell before the race. We still have a lot of work to do on her mentality. She is full of quality but remains very complicated. We have just entered her in the Prix Six Perfections in Deauville. We will see depending on her recovery. Even before she won, we knew she was galloping a little. Today, it is hot, the ground is fast. We will have to be patient for the rest..."

A granddaughter of the good Texalina

Bred by SCEA des Prairies, Relaxx was purchased by her trainers at the V2 Arqana for €50,000. She is a daughter of City Light (Siyouni), who stands at Haras d'Étreham, and Texalila (Sunday Break). The latter won at 2 over 1,400m at Vichy. Relaxx is her fifth foal and her fourth winner. The broodmare notably gave Szafran (Zelzal), winner of a maiden over 1,600m at Cagnes-sur-Mer and a handicap over 1,400m at Tarbes. She has a yearling by Wooded (Wootton Bassett) as well as a foal by Texas (Wootton Bassett). Texalina (Kaldoun), the second dam, won the Prix Saint-Roman (Gr3) and the Prix La Camargo (Gr3). Texalina is a sister to Hexane (Kendor), placed in the Prix de Sandringham (Gr3, at the time) and became the dam of Never on Sunday (Sunday Break), winner of the Prix d'Ispahan (Gr1)…
