Penja is back to the winning circle

Castillon graduate records a 4-length victory

Penja (Camelot) was the attraction of the Prix du manoir Sans Souci Class 1 and she did not disappoint. The representative of Daniel-Yves Trèves, Laurent Dassault, Jean-Claude Rouget and the Bernard Weill team stepped down from category after her eighth place in the Prix Saint-Alary (Gr1). Jean-Claude Rouget had considered her in the Prix de Diane Longines (Gr1), but he finally gave it up and decided to enter his filly in his Class , a race that she easily won. Penja, who was shortened, immediately took control, with the Godolphin Crafter (Muhaarar) on the outside. Still in the lead at the end of the final turn, Cristian Demuro's partner put in a sharp acceleration 300m from the post to clearly break away and pass it four lengths ahead. Behind her are Go Fast Traou Land (George Vancouver) and New Chance (New Bay), long at the rear and coming in well to take third place at three-quarters length.

A Group this summer. With this very good performance, Penja can once again think of the Groups as her jockey said at the microphone of Equidia: “She was a bit disappointed. She lacked maturity and a Gr1 is tough. Today, we find that of Deauville. She has great action. I think she can win a group this summer in Deauville. She's a good filly, with a good model and I like the way she runs today. "

Frankyfourfingers' niece. Bred by Scea des Prairies, Benoît and Thomas Jeffroy, Penja was sold for € 90,000 at the Arqana yearling sale in October 2019, when she was presented by the Castillon stud. It was his trainer, Jean-Claude Rouget, who signed for her. Penja is a daughter of Camelot (Montjeu), stallion at Coolmore Stud, and Just with You (Sunday Break). The latter produced Taos (Toronado), winner of the Derby du Midi (L). She also has a 2-y-o named Just Beauty (Shalaa) and a yearling by Harry Angel (Dark Angel).

Just with You is the full sister of Frankyfourfingers (Sunday Break), winner of the Al Maktoum Challenge Round II (Gr2, 1.900m). He also finished fourth in the Al Maktoum Challenge R3 (Gr1). It is the strain of Texalina (Kendor), winner of the Prix Saint-Roman (Gr3) and second in the Prix de la Grotte (Gr3), and of Never on Sunday (Sunday Break), winner of the Prix d'Ispahan (Gr1) , Prince of Orange (Gr3) and third in the Prince of Wales's Stakes (Gr1).
