Last seen at Saint-Cloud, on July 4th, Caprice des Dieux (Declaration of War) suffered its first defeat in the Prix Eugène Adam (Gr2) against Pretty Tiger (Sea the Moon). Tuesday, the representative of Jean de Ganay and Christian Baillet resumed the course of his success by triumphing very easily in the Prix Pelleas (L) under the saddle of Stéphane Pasquier, signing a fourth victory in five outings. Before the race, his trainer, Nicolas Clément, feared the difficult ground, but Caprice des Dieux dispelled this doubt by realizing a real demonstration. After galloping third in a peloton led by Media Stream (Frankel), the future winner easily took the best 400m from the final post.

The Prince d’Orange and the Dollar, two possible options. Caprice des Dieux began his career with a victory in a maiden in Nancy on March 28. Five weeks later, he repeated at the same racetrack at Class 2 level. On June 2, he successfully passed the Parisian test by winning in a Class 1. Dominated by two lengths in the Eugène Adam, Caprice des Dieux nevertheless easily beat Adhamo (Intello), winner of the Prix La Force (Gr3). Nicolas Clément said at Equidia: “Given his paternal American origin, I had doubts about his suitability on the ground. Caprice des Dieux is more of a good ground horse because it has good acceleration. Bringing him here is still a beautiful thing. We will let him rest in August before preparing for the start of the school year. He can go on a race like the Prix du Prince d'Orange (Gr3), then, why not, the Prix Dollar (Gr2) afterwards. But first, we'll savor this victory. He's a colt in progress. Lastly, we hesitated to run the Gr2, then we saw that there weren't many starters. We don't want to hurt him too much this year. Our goal is for him to climb the ladder at 4, little by little. Hopefully the best is yet to come! "

His father, Declaration of War (War Front), now officiates in Japan. The dam, Neko (Dansili), won an "F" race starting at 3 years old, on the 1,900m of the P.S.F. of Chantilly. Caprice des Dieux is his first offspring. Neko has a 2-year-old, Gemmyo (Shalaa), in training with Carlos and Yann Lerner under the colors of Christian Berquier, a yearling by Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), who will be presented by the Bourgeauville stud next month in Arqana, and she is also followed by Wootton Bassett. She was covered by Hello Youmzain (Kodiac). The second dam, Épopée (Sadler’s Wells), finished second in the Prix Panacé and third in the Prix Denisy (Ls).
